Unit Overview
The purpose of this unit is to help the learners understand the extent of the problems associated with trash and its disposal, and provide them with ideas for recycling and reusing.
Service Experience
The learners may participate in a Community Clean-up Project or raise awareness of recycling or composting. They may work to support a non-profit organization that promotes recycling.
Lessons in This Unit
In this lesson, we learn about landfills and the global and local management of trash.
The learners identify a common area where trash accumulates and plan a clean-up project.
Subjects
This lesson helps learners see the potential for reusing materials rather than throwing them away. They research and contact community organizations that support recycling efforts.
