Unit Overview 

After reading an article about homelessness by Anna Quindlen, learners discuss a respectful way to use the language that describes a group of people who are vulnerable. They reflect on basic needs that may be difficult to meet when one doesn’t have a home. 

Service Experience 
Learners identify local and global nonprofits that are working to reduce homelessness. In response to identifying needs, learners take action through advocacy (using social media to raise awareness of the issue) or helping with projects locally. They may take action by creating personal hygiene kits to support people who are homeless.
