In this lesson, young people research various types of renewable energy and write a persuasive statement about which energy source their city or county should invest in.
By comparing lightbulbs, young people learn about technology, energy conservation, and personal responsibility. Their personal choices can impact family energy costs and reduce the amount of energy consumed for the common good.
Unit: Character Education: Courage (Grade 6)
In this lesson, learners recognize that courage is something we need when making a difficult choice about something important. A hero makes courageous choices for the good of all, sometimes risking personal safety and comfort.

Learners read and reflect on the meaning of democracy. They discuss and explore examples of participatory democracy in history. They read quotes from Founding Fathers and relate them to philanthropy and civic engagement.

Students will learn about the similarities and differences of the hunger situation in the two different classifications of countries: industrialized nations and developing nations.
