Unit: Character Education: Respect (Grade 7)
In this lesson, learners read the true story of Cynthia Ann Parker who was born in a white family and raised by Native Peoples. They look for and discuss the examples of respect and disrespect for Cynthia and the Native culture she was raised in.
Unit: Community Philanthropy
Create a past, present, and future timeline of personal philanthropy.
Participants become familiar with philanthropy-related terms and a variety of philanthropy in the past. We consider the impact of people who contribute in large and small ways to the health of the community.

Students write to pen pals in a different community and discuss ideas related to a service project. For example, the pen pals may plan and monitor a canned-good donation project.
Unit: The Joy of a Garden (3rd Grade)
The picture book, The Gardener, tells the story of a girl who makes a difference for the community and people around her by sharing her love for plants. The children may share their own personal interests to bring joy to others.
