Our communities may have people from many cultures and there may be many different languages spoken. Sparked by a playful video of kids teaching other kids their languages, we explore the languages represented in our communities.

Unit: Cultural Competence
We define culture and explore the cultural traits of individuals and the group collectively.
Unit: Tolerance (Private-Religious)

Young people read about Jewish role models who partake in tikkun olam. They reflect on how they can use their behavior as a model for their own philanthropy to perfect the world.
Unit: Character Education: Caring (Grade 8)
Learners determine different ways that they show caring. They write the things they care about in word webs related to "how" they care about each thing.
Unit: Phil Up on the Arts
Discuss when permission is needed in order to perform an act of philanthropy. Learn and practice a song about giving.

Unit: History of Philanthropy
Youth explore the history of philanthropic behavior (sharing, community collaboration, service) in ancient cultures and today, as well as compare themes of love and service in different world religious practices.
