This lesson guides youth to take take action with a group. They plan and carry out a tikkun olam project of their choosing to help the local community.

In this activity that follows the model of the story of Stone Soup, we learn about a mindset that says "yes we can" rather than looking at what we don't have. We cooperate to solve a problem for the good of all. 

Sometimes when a child or adult has a special need, health concern, or comes from an unfamiliar faith or background, we are unsure how to act. This Little Critter book demonstrates how to be kind and curious, and show respect for their abilities and strengths.

We learn about the ancient Aztec culture in Mexico. 

Learners identify ways to use advocacy to promote change.

In this lesson, we define stereotype as a mistaken generalization about a group of people and raise awareness of ways to advocate for inclusion and kindness. 

This lesson provides an example of a politician known for his honesty. The learners identify why they depend on politicians to be honest, and discuss why it is difficult for politicians to be honest.

Participants gain exposure to how citizens organize in response to a need. They observe the benefits of group cooperation. They review data they have collected from surveys and work in collaborative groups to identify focus areas for the service-learning project.

The purpose of this lesson is to guide learners to participate in caring for our Earth by engaging in activities of environmental stewardship.

These activities help youth see the web of communities to which they belong and define what it means to be a member of a community.
