Children spend time outside to play in nature and recognize the beauty of diverse living things in their environment. Their service project is to share nature with someone else in a creative interaction.
Students research the practices of healthy exercise. They identify a topic related to good nutrition and personal health and write 3-5 facts to share with the class. They identify nonprofits that work to address related health needs and contact them by phone to ask questions.

Students conduct and evaluate their service project, then celebrate their success. After the service project, invite guests, volunteers, community members, and other students to celebrate with the class.
In this second lesson about Jane Addams, we learn about the impact of her philanthropic work and connect it to the needs of our communities today. Young people discuss voluntary actions they can take inspired by Jane Addams.
This lesson is a reflection on the beach clean-up experience.
Learners discuss the fair use of copyrighted music. They explore how downloading music and movies affects the artists and producers who created the pieces. Learners write a statement of fair use.
Learners will develop an understanding of the differences between the secular concepts of charity and philanthropy and the Jewish concept of tzedakah.
Students determine which community need they want to address with a service project. Once a priority need has been determined, they research related nonprofit organizations with a student-generated list of questions.
