In a kid-friendly approach, we look at the components of the U.S. Constitution and put early government-forming events in a context. We distinguish the roles of the three branches of government, especially the structure and responsibilities of our judicial system. 

Learners use respectful language to debate in a scenario that doesn't have a clear right and wrong choice. They try to persuade the group about what is the responsible thing to do. 

This lesson challenges learners to think of their personal responsibility to act when they observe unfair treatment. They respond to a scenario and work in small groups to make a plan of action in a specific situation of their choosing.

The learners present skits share strategies for addressing bullying behavior. They make a plan to reduce bullying in their school or community.

The learners investigate their perceptions about bullying and its relationship to respect. They brainstorm ways to promote respect of self and others as individuals and as a group.

Young people demonstrate that differences can be discussed and worked through kindly and playfully. When we disagree, curiosity and creativity can help us talk openly. Conflict isn't comfortable, but we have the curiosity and skills to get through. 

This lesson emphasizes the importance of respecting others and their opinions. Activities explore aspects of friendship and compromise.
