Unit Overview

The unit gives an overview of Kwanzaa and teaches the seven principles of Kwanzaa - one per day. Young people learn vocabulary and are challenged to apply the principles to their everyday lives in a way that enhances the communities to which they belong. This may be adapted for any grade level by selecting the parts of the lessons that are age appropriate.

Service Experience
Display the seven principles of Kwanzaa along with explanations and examples on a public bulletin board. The goal of the bulletin board would be to encourage the other community members to apply the principles. Hold a Karamu feast and invite another others, and teach them what they have learned.
