Courtroom Simulation Cards/Preparations

Defendant:
Uses the rubrics from Attachment Two to prepare a speech to plead innocence. Uses knowledge of the common good related to increased jobs and revenue, and the pursuit of happiness.
Lawyer for the Defendant:
Uses the rubrics from Attachment Two to prepare a speech to defend his/her client. Uses knowledge of the common good related to increased jobs and revenue, and the pursuit of happiness.
Prosecutor :
Uses the rubrics from Attachment Two to prepare a speech that explains why the city thinks the defendant should be punished
Witness for the Prosecution :
Uses knowledge from the field trip and Lesson Four to discuss water quality.
Witness for the Prosecution :
Uses knowledge from Lesson Three to give the jury an idea of the amount of raw sewage.
Witness for the Prosecution :
Uses knowledge from Lesson Two to inform the jury about the effects water history has had in history.
Judge :
Plays the role of referee.Prepares by knowing both sides of the issue.Discusses the verdict and gives the defendant a lecture.
Jury members (the rest of the class) :
Prepare by completing the decision making model using a problem of their own. During trial listens carefully and completes a decision making model for the case.
Stenographer(s) :
Take notes on the case to give to the jury. Prepares by completing a decision making model.
Witness for the Defense :
Uses knowledge from Day Two, Lesson Five discussion of increased community jobs and revenue.
