The learners will:
- identify six individuals who formed organizations/or worked for the common good within their community.
- analyze how the work of Laura Smith Haviland was philanthropic and supported Core Democratic Values.
- trace the origins of three organizations founded for the common good .
- link organizations of the past to the present.
- assess the role of volunteerism during the Civil War and Reconstruction.
- plan a volunteer effort within the community.
After completing a survey to determine interests and making arrangements with a local non-profit organization, students will provide volunteer service as arranged.
