I plan to use the animal metaphors style of reflection because I feel that my sixth graders are great at expressing themselves through metaphors like this. Since it is creative, it gets the discussion going. I use a similar technique in which they each have to identify a type of shoes that represents how they acted during the project. I give them choices (dance shoes, running shoes, hiking boots, etc.). They meet with others who choose the same type of shoes and discuss why that type of shoes fits.

excellent opportunity to see how we all fit and work together on a project. A great visual!

I plan to use the bulletin board style of reflection because this is a highly personalized, yet anonymous, form of reflection. I work with college students, and we can touch on some hot-button issues like racism, sexism, etc. The anonymity of the bulletin board can allow for honest and open discussion without the risk of embarrassment or personal attacks between students.
