Explore the reasons for philanthropy education and find your role as a teacher in creating a sustainable message. Teaching philanthropy (private citizen action intended for the common good) is central to the mission of school, critical to the survival of our democracy, and supportive of good teachers.

Learning Objectives

The learner will:

1. recognize the importance of teaching philanthropy.
2. identify the relationship of philanthropy education to the mission of schools in a democracy.
3. discuss the status of democracy and philanthropy education in the US and around the world.
4. relate philanthropy education to school improvement efforts.

CEU Credit

Upon successful completion of each module, the learner may request a certificate suitable for a professional development portfolio or as proof of educational clock hours that can be used towards continuing education credit in most states.
