Explore the reasons for philanthropy education...from the ideals of the teacher, through the roles of public education and civil society in supporting democracy, to a discussion of the current status of our own democracy. The key concept in this module is that the teaching of philanthropy (giving, serving, and private citizen action intended for the common good) is central to the mission of schools, critical to the survival of our democracy, and supportive of good teachers. Philanthropy education is not an “add-on” special project, it is related to the core purpose of education. The module concludes by showing how philanthropy education supports and enriches other school improvement efforts. Start the module now.
