Actions of Peace A Service-Learning Curriculum in Celebration of Peace and Non-Violence

These lessons connect students to figures in history who have been challenged to resolve conflicts utilizing peace and non-violence. By exploring the lives of peaceful leaders (Wangari Maathai, Rigoberta Menchú, Mohandas Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr.), students make comparisons to their personal lives and local communities and learn strategies for resolving conflicts peacefully. Students create books and images that express their understanding of peaceful leadership and share that message with others in the community.

Kids Care Clubs Souper Bowl of Caring

Kids Care Clubs participate in the national Souper Bowl of Caring. Super Bowl Sunday is the second largest day of food consumption in America, next to Thanksgiving. This is a great time to hold a food drive and collect food for those in need. Go to http://www.kidscare.org/clubcentral/souper-bowl-caring to find out how your club can collect soup and crackers for your local food pantries and soup kitchens. To register as a club go to the Home page http://www.kidscare.org/ and click on Register Now. Any questions, call toll free 1-866-269-0510.
