Philanthropy education supports a fundamental mission of schools: to educate students for responsible citizenship and to carry on the democratic tradition of citizen engagement.

Philanthropy education teaches children about giving, serving, and private citizen action intended for the common good. 

Philanthropy education lessons
•    EDUCATE youth about philanthropy, the civil society sector, and the importance of giving their time, talent and treasure for the common good (knowledge),
•    DEVELOP philanthropic behavior and experience (skills), and,
•    EMPOWER youth to take voluntary citizen action for the common good in their classrooms, their lives and their communities (behavior).

The LEAGUE Curriculum by Learning to Give is a web-based philanthropy education program including learning and doing through academic service learning that builds character and empowers young people to “do good” in their community, the nation and the world.  

It is the vision of the LEAGUE that by the time students exit high school they will be empowered, equipped, energized and motivated for civic engagement, and will have developed an ethic of life-long community service and philanthropy.
